Rome Italy
When Ted A. Batchelor and his crew of seven were ask to go to Rome and attempt to break his own Guinness World Record for "Longest full body burn without supplied oxygen" the group jumped at the chance.
On the evening of February 25th 2010 Nina Gilkey touched the torch to Ted's back and screamed "GO!!" as he burst into flames with an audible "Woosh".
Ted Calmly walked his way past his previous record of two minutes 38 seconds, set at beautiful Nelson Ledges Quarry Park in Ohio, and into the record books again with a new Guinness World record of 2 minutes 57 seconds!!
Guinness Judge Marco Frigatti made the announcement at the conclusion of the stunt which was the finale of the Guinness show in Rome Italy.
Ted's crew was Debby Batchelor who applied the fuels, Gregg Gilkey-timer and coordinator, Todd Mclaughlin-Saftey, Matt Rogers-Safety and fueler, Brendan Batchelor-Video and ice, Nina Gilkey-ignitor, and Lisa Michalk liason-controller.
"We had a great time at the studio in Rome and met a huge group of talented other record holders. Truely a great experience!" remarked Mr. Batchelor.
The stunt should appear in the upcoming Guinness book along with the other world record acheived last September 19th 2009 for "most people on fire at once" with 17.
